Monday- April 6, 2020
Today, the first animal inside the U.S. got infected with COVID, the animal is a four years old tiger living in the Bronx zoo who came in contact with a zoo keeper who had symptoms of the virus. All non-essential shops in New York city has to shut down till at least the end of the month, with 599 new deaths in the city overnight. While the number of infected jumps higher in New York, things began to slow down in Spain for the fourth day in a row.
Tuesday- April 7, 2020
Last month, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was diagnosed with COVID-19, he had been quarantined in his home while still participating in daily meetings using video calls. On Monday, the minister was moved to St. Thomas’ hospital for intensive treatment, it had been 10 days since he first reported symptoms on March 26. He is one of 48,000 people who has been infected with the virus in the UK including Prince Charles, who is the heir to the British throne.

The 78-years old Vermont senator Bernie Sanders dropped out of the presidential race this morning, he used to be the front-runner of the race who won in the first few contest, Sanders began losing on Super Tuesday, when Joe Biden, now the Democratic candidate, got the support of 10 states, compared to Sander’s 4 states. The U.S. number of infected patients with Coronavirus reaches 400,000, more than double any other country. Pope Francis stated that the Coronavirus might just be nature’s response to climate change.

At a World Health Organization press meeting on Wednesday, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus gave multiple remarks about the country of Taiwan (where I’m from) using my country’s foreign ministry as a way to defend himself and the U.N. Health organization’s response to the Coronavirus. Tedros stated that the people of Taiwan have been participating in campaigns using racist slurs against him. He also stated many times that his life has been personally attacked, including receiving at times, death threats and racist abuse. Tedros said that the foreign ministry know of these attacks and have not done anything about it.
Friday- April 10, 2020
Today, the president of Taiwan, president Tsai Ing-wen stated on Facebook, “If Director-General Tedros could withstand pressure from China and come to Taiwan to see Taiwan’s efforts to fight COVID-19 for himself, he would be able to see that the Taiwanese people are the true victims of unfair treatment,” She was talking about the fact that Taiwan is not apart of the WHO due to China’s claims of Taiwan being apart of China. Tedros was elected as director general with strong support from the Chinese government, he supports the Chinese claim of China not lying about the number of infected patients with Coronavirus, he also often give out criticism to the U.S., echoing China.
